We use adjectives to modify nouns.

In the below sentence, look carefully how both adjectives and adverbs can appear in the same sentence:

It’s very common for us to be confused with the use of adjectives and adverbs. So just remember this: If the word modifies the subject, you should use an adjective. If the word modifies the verb, you should use an adverb.
