Name: Shawn Shantilal School: Anglo Chinese Junior Level: P5 My First Trip to Sydney , Australia Last Friday, after my last lesson in school, I was delighted because my family and I were going to Sydney for a short holiday. We have friends living in Sydney and I was very excited see them again. I came home from school, prepared myself and we set off for the airport in a taxi. When we arrived at the airport, we had a drink in the waiting lounge before boarding the plane. After an eight hours plane ride, we arrived in Sydney early in the morning. I was freezing cold because it was only sixteen degrees there. We checked into Swiss Hotel to take a two hours nap. When we woke up, we set off for a shopping spree. We had our lunch in a restaurant in the mall. I tried the fried noodles while my father and sister ate chicken curry. Meanwhile, we waited for our friends, Erica and Michael to arrive. All of us took the seven-seater car to the Paddington Market. The market had many small stalls selling food, clothes and decorative for the house. My mother bought a chopping board and a candleholder. Erica and my sister shared a waffle, while I ordered a big corn with butter. It was delicious. After which, we set off for our friends’ house. Their house is very big. It has a swimming pool on the first storey and a garden on the second storey. We rested there until Erica and Michael’s parents came home. They took us to an Italian restaurant for dinner. On the second day, Erica’s family picked us up from our hotel and brought us to Hunter Valley . We had a rent a ten-seater plane to get there. It was my first time going on a propeller plane. It was a bumpy ride but we enjoyed it. We tried horseback riding too. The horse was very smelly and I dirtied my pants. Erica learnt horse riding before so she could control the horse very well. We also visited the winery. My sister and I wanted to taste the wine but my father did not allow. The place was small but posh. We bought a few bottles of wine. Lunch was fish and chips for my sister and I. We also visited the chocolate shop and a cheese factory. At night, we went to the famous Sydney Opera House. It was so beautiful. On our last day, we went to the Opera House again to take pictures of it in the day. My mother had to shop for some frozen lamb to bring back to Singapore . We enjoyed our trip very much but at the same time, we could not bear to leave. I know I would miss Erica and Michael. We packed our luggage and went to the airport. We waved our last goodbyes and had a safe ride home to Singapore .
